The sport of wheelchair rugby originated in Winnipeg, Canada in 1976. There are now domestic or international programs in at least 36 countries.
As the originating country of the sport, we are extremely pleased to see it grow and prosper around the world.

The London Wheelchair Rugby Club is one of the premier wheelchair rugby clubs in the GBWRA. Based in the south of England,
they are able to offer training sessions in Surrey and Middlesex. The club currently provides two teams in the British league,
the Barbarians (formerly the Broncos) and the Saracens, and several of their members are established squad players in the GB squad. |

The Midwest Rugby Rebels formed in early 2007, under the sponsorship of BlazeSports Omaha, a partnership between the Great Plains Paralyzed Veterans of

players come from Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota. Practices are held at the Great Plains PVA in Omaha and Madonna ProActive in Lincoln. They compete in

Formerly known as the Strykers, the EPVA Jets Quad Rugby Team came into being in summer 2000 when a sponsorship deal developed between
the New York Jets National Football League (NFL) franchise and the Eastern Paralyzed Veterans Association (EPVA). Originally
founded in January 1990, the EPVA Strykers (now the EPVA Jets) were started and coached by EPVA’s Sports Director Angelo Nicosia
through the urging of original members Rick Lopez and Ed Suhr. The EPVA changed their name to the
United Spinal Association in January 2004. |
