Wheelchair Rugby Canada Announces the Roster for the 2015 World Wheelchair Rugby Challenge

(Ottawa, ON) – Wheelchair Rugby Canada is pleased to announce the 11 athletes selected to represent Team Canada at the 2015 BT World Wheelchair Rugby Challenge (2015WWRC) in London, England. The 2015WWRC will be held alongside the Rugby World Cup 2015 in order to bring elite wheelchair rugby to a wider audience. The event will be Canada’s first big test since the Toronto 2015 Parapan American Games, where the team won its first gold in 13 years and qualified for the Rio.

The athletes selected are:

  • David Willsie (Dorchester, ON)
  • Cody Caldwell (Peterborough, ON)
  • Mike Whitehead (Windsor, ON)
  • Fabien Lavoie (Quebec City, QC)
  • Zak Madell (Okotoks, AB)

Not only will Team Canada (#2) face off against the USA (#3) in a rematch of the Toronto 2015 Parapan American Games, but it will also face Australia (#1), Japan (#4) and Great Britain (#5). Games start on Oct. 12th.
