The Canadian Wheelchair Sports Association (CWSA) congratulates wheelchair rugby co-captain Trevor Hirschfield on being elected to the AthletesCan Board of Directors.
Hirschfield was elected during the AthletesCan Forum, which took place this weekend in Calgary and brought together high-performance athletes from across Canada to network, develop leadership skills and share ideas through workshops, seminars and presentations. In his role, Hirschfield will advocate for all high-performance athletes, especially athletes with a disability.
“It is a great honour to be elected to the AthletesCan board of directors,” he said. “AthletesCan is the collective voice of Canadian national team athletes, and as a representative sitting on the Board of Directors, it is important to ensure that the athletes voice is heard. I am very excited to step into this role and I’m looking forward to learning throughout my term. Thank you to everyone who has supported me in my decision to join the board.”
Cathy Cadieux, Executive Director of CWSA, praised Hirschfield’s leadership abilities.
“Trevor is an excellent leader both on and off the court, and we’re so pleased that he will have the opportunity to influence not just the wheelchair rugby community, but the sports community at large,” she said.
