Coach Kevin Orr Wins 2012 Petro-Canada Coaching Excellence Award

Congratulations to Canadian national team coach Kevin Orr, who was awarded a 2012 Petro-Canada Coaching Excellence Award this weekend at the Petro Canada Sports Leadership Awards gala.

Kevin was one of 15 Paralympic coaches honoured for winning a medal at a World Championships or Paralympic Games. The Canadian wheelchair rugby national team won a silver medal at the London 2012 Paralympics after upsetting the #1-ranked American team to reach the finals against Team Australia.

“Coaching is a great responsibility and those who succeed embrace it with passion and dedication,” said Henry Storgaard, CEO of the Canadian Paralympic Committee. “Team Canada returned home from the London 2012 Paralympic Games with 31 medals, including seven gold, 15 silver and nine bronze – and this could not have been achieved without the excellence and professionalism of those being honoured here tonight."

Congratulations to Kevin Orr for his team's excellent performance.
