After an exciting gold medal match that went down to the last seconds, the Edmonton Steel Wheels are the winners of the Steel Wheels Capital City Showdown. The tournament, which took place Jan 11 - 12 in Edmonton, was hosted by the Steel Wheels and is part of the Prairie Wheelchair Rugby League.
After being bested 49-46 by the Calgary Inferno in round-robin play, the Steel Wheels battled back to win 55-54 in the gold medal match. Manitoba claimed the bronze medal with a 42-29 win over Saskatchewan.
The final standings were:
1st: Edmonton Steel Wheels (3-1)
2nd: Calgary Inferno (3 – 1)
3rd: Team TOBA (2-2)
4th: Team Saskatchewan (0-4)
