Zak Madell’s golden trip to the Toronto 2015 Parapan American Games has gotten even brighter. Today, the Canadian Paralympic Committee announced that he has been selected as Canada’s flag bearer at the closing ceremony.
“We are so thrilled for our Zak,” said Canadian Wheelchair Sports Association CEO Cathy Cadieux. “He’s only 21 and he’s already showed such poise and composure under pressure. His future is so bright.”
After losing in double overtime to the USA in the round robins, Canada came back from behind to win 57-54 in the gold medal game. Madell scored 37 points and was responsible for several key turnovers.
The Closing Ceremony will take place at 8 pm at Nathan Phillips Square.
