 BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
  • Garett, co-captain and a driving force of the National Wheelchair Rugby Team, has been a dominant player in the sport since his emergence on the international scene.  He earns a place on the All-Star team at almost every tournament in which he plays.  Notable awards he has received include Best 3.5 and Most Valuable Player at the 1995 World Championships, Most Valuable Player at the 1998 World Championships, Most Valuable Player at the 2002 World Championships, and Most Valuable Player at the Canadian National Championships seven times.

  • Garett was injured in a 300m fall off a cliff in Kelowna in 1987.  First introduced to wheelchair rugby in 1993, he has since become the top player in Canada and an inspiration to aspiring wheelchair athletes everywhere.  Garett has led the BC provincial team to 11 Canadian National Championship victories between 1993 and 2004.  He was named British Columbia's Wheelchair Athlete of the Year in both 1995 and 2002, and was awarded the BC Premier's Athletic Award in 1996.  This year, "G" was proud to receive a 2004 Team Investors Group Amateur Athletes Fund award.

  • A driven athlete who excels in every aspect of the game, from ball handling and passing to strategy and tactics, Garett is highly coachable and loves the game!  His personal motto is: "No fear – give 110%".
