 BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
  • Sally is the only female certified personal trainer with a disability in the country.  She also has an interest in coaching, and has worked with disabled athletes in a number of sports.

  • Classified as a T53 athlete in athletics, and as a Class 2 player in basketball, Sally was a 100 and 200 metre specialist with the Panthers Athletic Club, where she was coached by Amanda Fader and Bob Schrader.  She is still the Canadian record holder for her classification in the 60m indoor event.

  • Her concentration these days is on powerlifting, and introducing the sport to new athletes.  She established a new official Canadian record for her weight class at Stoke-Mandeville in June 2004, with a lift of 65 kg, which is all the more remarkable given her low body weight.  She is currently ranked 24th in the world in the -40kg weight class.

  • Las Vegas, Nov-2006 Sally is one of six children and one of five adopted children in her family, four of whom have some sort of disability.  She has 18 years of experience working with children and adults with disabilities.  In her spare time, she enjoys public speaking, coaching athletics, and playing sports such as table tennis with the National Capital Wheelchair Tennis Association and basketball with the Ottawa Jazz, where she often participates in demos with the Tip-Off Program in local area schools.
