Can anyone stop the Ontario Thunder or Team Saskatchewan? That’s the question wheelchair rugby fans are asking after Day 2 of the 2013 Coloplast Canadian Wheelchair Rugby National Championships. Both teams went undefeated by wide margins in Division One and Division Two respectively, and both will have a chance to battle for a national title. Tomorrow, the Thunder will play for gold against Quebec in Division One, while Saskatchewan will compete against Manitoba for the Division Two title.

It's the event in the wheelchair rugby calendar that Murderball fans wait for all year. The 2013 Coloplast Canadian Wheelchair Rugby National Championships are coming to Mount Royal College in Calgary from May 17 - 19. Among the many athletes competing will be young rising star Zak Madell, of Okotoks, AB, who has been making waves in the sport since he was recruited three years ago. Zak was recently the focus of an in-depth article on Paralympic.org and will be key to Team Alberta's performance.

Bill Funk Nominated for Manitoba's Volunteer of the Year

Bill FunkBILL FUNK, father of former national team athlete Jared Funk, has been nominated for Sport Manitoba's Volunteer of the Year 2013.  Bill has been volunteering with the wheelchair rugby program for more than 15 years in various capacities such as coaching and equipment manager.  He has been involved in multiple community outreach programs and has spent time promoting wheelchair sports and wheelchair rugby at Have-A-Go Days at the HSC and Soldiering On events in Shile, MB.&n
