Edmonton Steel Wheels Win Capital City Showdown

After an exciting gold medal match that went down to the last seconds, the Edmonton Steel Wheels are the winners of the Steel Wheels Capital City Showdown. The tournament, which took place Jan 11 - 12 in Edmonton, was hosted by the Steel Wheels and is part of the Prairie Wheelchair Rugby League.

After being bested 49-46 by the Calgary Inferno in round-robin play, the Steel Wheels battled back to win 55-54 in the gold medal match. Manitoba claimed the bronze medal with a 42-29 win over Saskatchewan.

Register Now For the 2014 Murderball Classic Wheelchair Rugby Tournament

Registration is now open for the 2014 Murderball Classic Wheelchair Rugby Tournament, which will be held from March 1 to 2 in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This round robin tournament will include up to five teams, with each team guaranteed four games.

The Murderball Classic is a joint venture between the Winnipeg Wheelchair Rugby Club and Manitoba Wheelchair Sports. It’s another exciting example of how quickly wheelchair rugby is developing in the Prairies thanks to initiatives like the Podium Club and the new Prairie League.

Des joueurs de rugby en fauteuil roulant canadiens remportent le Challenge suisse de bas pointage

Patrice Dagenais, Patrice Simard et Byron Green, tous membres de l'équipe nationale, ont fait équipe avec Guillaume Bouchard et avec Jared Funk, ancien membre de l'équipe nationale, pour remporter le Challenge suisse de bas pointage de 2013, qui a été organisé la fin de semaine dernière à Notwill, en Suisse.

Notre équipe, baptisée Projet Mayhem, a mérité la médaille d'or grâce à une victoire de 37 à 29. Patrice Simard et Patrice Dagenais ont remporté le prix de «meilleurs de leur catégorie» en récompense de leurs efforts acharnés.

Canadian Wheelchair Rugby Athletes Win 2013 Swiss Low-Point Challenge

Canadian wheelchair rugby national team members Patrice Dagenais, Patrice Simard and Byron Green teamed up with Guillaume Bouchard and former national team member Jared Funk to win the 2013 Swiss Low Point Challenge tournament in Notwill, Switzerland last weekend.

The team, called Project Mayhem, secured the gold medal with a 37-29 win. For their efforts, both Patrice Simard and Patrice Dagenais won Best In Class Awards.

Les Stingers d'Ottawa remportent la 7e édition annuelle du «Northeast Passage Wildcats Rugby Rampage»

Toutes nos félicitations aux Stingers d'Ottawa, qui ont remporté le 7e tournoi annuel «Northeast Passage Wildcats Rugby Rampage» disputé en fin de semaine dernière à l'Université du New Hampshire. Deux autres équipes canadiennes ont participé à ce tournoi, à savoir le Nouveau-Brunswick, et une formation composite de Montréal et de la ville de Québec.

Un coup de chapeau spécial à Cory Harrower, car elle a remporté le titre de MVP du tournoi pour sa contribution à l'équipe de Montréal et Québec.

Ottawa Stingers Win the 7th Annual Northeast Passage Wildcats Rugby Rampage

Congratulations to the Ottawa Stingers, who won the 7th Annual Northeast Passage Wildcats Rugby Rampage at the University of New Hampshire this weekend. Two other Canadian teams – New Brunswick and a combined Montreal/Quebec City team – also participated. 

A special congratulations to Cory Harrower, who won the MVP award for her contribution on the Montreal/Quebec Team.

Classification Clinic To Be Held in Quebec

L'ASCFR et Parasport Québec vont organiser un stage de formation de classificateurs à l'occasion du tournoi sur invitation de rugby en fauteuil roulant qui aura lieu à Montréal du 13 au 15 décembre 2013. Ce stage sera coordonné par Randall Tressider, qui est classificateur de niveau 3. Classification Clinic To Be Held in Quebec

CWSA and Parasport Quebec will be hosting a Classifiers Clinic at the Montreal Invitational Wheelchair Rugby Tournament from December 13th to 15th, 2013. The clinic will be coordinated by Randall Tressider, a level 3 classifier. For more information and to register please contact Karine Cote at kcote@parasportsquebec.com.

Unfortunately CWSA cannot provide any more funding to get individuals to the clinic, but clubs or PSOs might have funding available. This will be the only classifier training clinic happening this year.

Nominations Now Being Accepted for 2013 CWSA Annual Awards

Applications are currently being accepted for the 2013 CWSA Annual Awards. Please distribute the application documents within your organization and send in any your applications by midnight EST on Nov. 8th, 2013.  Please also keep the applications to no more than a cover page and two pages of material to support your candidates, as material beyond this will not be considered.
