Sam Katz, maire de Winnipeg, et le conseil municipal de Winnipeg ont rendu hommage lundi le 5 novembre 2012 aux personnes de la région qui ont pris part aux Jeux olympiques et paralympiques de 2012 à Londres. Plusieurs Olympiens, Paralympiens et entraîneurs ont assisté à la cérémonie de reconnaissance qui a eu lieu à l’hôtel de ville.
Winnipeg Mayor Sam Katz and Winnipeg City Council paid tribute on Monday November 5 2012 to those from the area who participated in the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, including wheelchair rugby athlete Jared Funk. The recognition took place at City Hall, and was attended by several Olympians, Paralympians and coaches.
Domestic teams are invited to register for the Invitation Rugby Parasports Québec 2012. The tournament will take place from Dec. 7 - 9 at Centre sportif Montpetit, the sports complex of the Edouard-Montpetit College on the south shore of Montreal.
The registration fee for the Invitation Montreal Rugby is $800 per team for up to ten team members. Meals at the venue, airport transfers and gym-hotel shuttle are included.

The Rick Hansen Foundation has now implemented an individual grant that is available on a quarterly basis. The grant aims to help people with disabilities who have specific needs that cannot be met by existing programs, funding sources or services. Successful applicants will receive between $3,000 and $5000.
Applications are now being accepted for The Challenged Athletes Foundation grants. The Challenged Athletes Foundation is a worldwide organization that grants up to $2500.00 annually to individuals for equipment, training costs, or travel to competition. This is one of the few grants available for individual athletes.
The Canadian Wheelchair Rugby National Team has been named as a finalist in the Team of the Year category for the 40th Annual Canadian Sport Awards. The Canadian Sport Awards are one of Canada's highest sporting honours and involve both able-bodied and para-sport athletes.
This year, our team has been nominated alongside the gold-medal-winning Canadian men's wheelchair basketball team and the Canadian women's soccer team, whose bronze-medal performance was one of the highlights of the Olympics.
